ALEXANDER SOLOTZEW: Life in Colors
January-July 2024

Alexander Solotzew was born in Kaliningrad city (former Soviet Union) in 1957. At the age of eleven, he entered the Moscow Academic Art Lyceum, a school for gifted children supported by the Russian Academy of Arts. After graduating from the Lyceum, he studied at Tambov Art College, where his parents taught art. Later, he was admitted to the St. Petersburg State Academy of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture. Shortly after receiving his Master's degree in Fine Arts, Alexander was forced to immigrate to Germany, due to the difference of his artistic and philosophical views which did not align with the Soviet regime. In Europe, the young artist started to develop his style as an avant-garde artist.

Solotzew’s aesthetic language can be described as a fusion of figurative art with elements of cubism and realism, inspired by 20th-century Russian masters Marc Chagall and Wassily Kandinsky. His paintings embody compelling artistry and visual sensitivity. His colorful palette enhances his dynamic compositions in which characters seem to be floating in sinuous ways as symbols of the artist’s life philosophy and passion for love. The Artist can be easily recognized by the spiral movements of his wide brush strokes and a diamond-like color palette with almost real engagement of floating figures.

The current exhibition Life in Colors presented in the Hilton Aventura Hotel is a selection of works that glimpse his rich repertoire.
